The last apartheid on the planet lives on in the EU

End the Greek apartheid now!

The anti-Macedonian crescendo of the Samaras ultra right-wing government and the Greek (para)state mechanisms continued in full speed this summer. Last “victim” was the Macedonian human rights activist and writer Gjorgi Kanzurov (Jorgos Kantzouris), born in the village of Setina/Skopos in the Lerin/Florina region in northern Greece. Last week he was prohibited from visiting his birth place with the common despicable “excuse” of allegedly posing “a threat to Greece’s internal order and security. Numerous more Macedonians, including journalists, artists, scientists as well as plain people were also banned from entering Greece to visit their birthplaces or simply to spend their holidays in Greece.

The notorious “black list” with undesired Macedonians, which was allegedly abolished by the current Minister of Education A. Loverdos, not only exists but was apparently enriched over the past two years. This comes as no surprise as Samaras, a fanatic anti-Macedonian and well-known for his brotherly ties with the fascists of Golden Dawn (see the recent Baltakos case*) became prime minister. The absence of absolutely no reaction from any of the Greek political parties represented in the Parliament or the mass disinformation media does not surprise us too. Unfortunately, the controlling mechanisms of the European Union over such matters are extremely loose or even non-existent. Otherwise, how could such utterly racist and intolerant actions, not found anywhere in the civilised world, be tolerated?

EFA-Rainbow will exhaust all the means and ways in hand to inform the European Parliament, all other EU organs as well as major international institutions that the last apartheid on the planet did not die, as everyone thought, 3 decades ago in South Africa but lives on undisturbed within today’s European Union. We hope that shame may make some decision-makers in Brussels more sensitive towards the issue. As far as the Greek prime minister and his fascist team of advisors are concerned, we have no illusions. Concepts like “shame”, “dignity” and “conscience” do not mean anything to them.

* Takis Baltakos was Samaras’ “right hand” and chief advisor. Until recently he was the Secretary of the Government. He resigned when it was revealed that he was in constant contact with the leadership of the fascist Golden Dawn and was even giving instructions to the Golden Dawn MPs on how to vote in several occasions. It was also revealed that everything was done in coordination with Samaras’ office.
