This was distributed by the EFA-EPP, which also received-through
its Co-Director Guenter Dauwen-the following response:
Ref: D/3591
Dear Mr Dauwen
Commissioner Rehn has asked me to reply to your e-mail.
I thank you for drawing the Commission's attention on the letter
addressed by the Rainbow Party to Mr Nimitz. As you know the preparation
of the Opinion on the application for membership submitted by the
former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is under way. Please be assured
that all issues covered by the criteria set by the European Council
of 1993 and the Stabilisation and Association Process conditionality
(notably the conditions that were defined by the Council in its
conclusions of 29 April 1997) will be thoroughly and fairly assessed
during the preparation of the Opinion.
Best regards
